The LFI (Learning, Fuzzy and Intelligent Systems) team has been created on January 1st, 2014 from the "Machine Learning and Uncertainty" part of the MALIRE team of the LIP6 at University Pierre & Marie Curie (Paris 6).
The researches of the LFI team are concerned by the use of computational intelligence techniques, such as machine learning or fuzzy logic for the design of intelligent systems. In this setting, we develop both research for the design of new models or the extension of existing theoretical models to take into account gradual or imperfect knowledge, but also research in application domains such as multimedia, the Internet of Things...

We propose, with applications to environmental science, medicine, chemistry and drug design, a mathematical framework offering the possibilities of 1) the design of a fuzzy filter, based on different mathematical criteria, for filtering out the uncertainties from the modeling problem; 2) utilizing the data about uncertainties provided by the fuzzy filter for estimating the parameters of the random sources which produced uncertainties; 3) incorporating the statistical information about the random sources of uncertainties in the modeling of process behavior; 4) optimal prediction of process variables taking into account the uncertainties; 5) a mathematical analysis of the modeling approach with emphasis on stability, robustness, and steady-state error issues.
